This might come as a bit of a surprise to you, but only after a matter of months since he declared his retirement from Test match cricket and being axed from his international’s T20 and ODI teams, the experienced Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has be signed by RCB for a whopping $1.91 million!
The big hitting Watson joins an already star studded overseas RCB with the likes of Gayle and ABD.
Although a decent Big Bash with the Sydney thunder and an impressive 124* against India a week ago, Watson has found some form, I can’t help feel nearly $2million for a very hit and miss player is a very expensive acquisition. Especially considering Aaron Finch was snapped up by the new franchise Gujarat Lions for only $210,000. Does Watson warrant such a high price tag. Yes he is available to play the full IPL season after his international retirement, and offers a decent option with his seam bowling but surely if he was still good enough he would be consistently selected for his country.
